I use a sharp bread knife, and a steady hand. Or a craft nice for smaller areas.

or could a hit blade , as this melts the cut surface stopping it fraying or leaving little bits on the gun

what about a soldering iron to melt the foam? you might get high from the fumes, probs not the wisest method :p

if you can't get pick'n'pluck, use a craft knife.
hot knives work great, but they can also make a huge mess. so unless you've done it before and you're really confident that you have the right temperature etc, don't bother.
scissors are fine, but they can crush the foam a bit.
scalpel style craft knives do a great job. just make sure the blade is in tight, or it disappears into the foam.. never to be seen again..

                  Re: Hard Case Foam Cutting

Pick and pluck won't make it look as though the case was designed for the gun - there will be gaps/holes all around it.

Peli recommend an electric carving knife but I just use craft blades. Draw around the gun tightly, cut the shape then adjust in small increments.

It's a Peli dessicant pack to guard against humidity.

Pan, whats with the numbers on the gun and Eotech mate? they look to me like armoury issues numbers. When you went to the armoury to pick up your weapon for range practice or APWT, you would give the armourer the number of your weapon and use the same weapon all the time. This saved you having to zero in a different weapon all the time, plus you would have the right buttstock fitted for your size.

Yes, all my AEGs have armoury numbers.

The 'number' on the EoTech is actually the laser warning label.

electric carving knifes are great for foam cutting, just dont force it let the blades do the work and you will end up with a great finish
