Bowman headsets / Element Peltors / Cobra radios blah blah blah
17 March, 2013, 13:50
Getting a bit confused here when it comes to radio comms.
I have loads of Cobra MT600 radios lying around from when I run ski educational visits, and am wanting to use them airsofting.
They take a 2.5mm single jack for headset/mic which I have used before, but I'd like to use the bowman headsets with them.
Did a quick forum search and people seem to use the Motorola single pin PTTs with the bowmans to use with these types of radios.
Can anyone confirm/clarify if this is the correct set up?
Cheers

Yep, I use Cobra MT800's which are essentially the same as yours and I use a motorola single pin (skinny headphone-style jack) PTT with no problem.

Re: Bowman headsets / Element Peltors / Cobra radios blah blah blah
I had this exact setup, I used a motorola pin U94 PTT (element I think?) and I had some problems with it, the cobra jack has slightly different dimensions to the motorola pin. The result being that if the pin is fully inserted into the radio you get a clicking on the headset which is pretty annoying. I found that using a small washer (about .5mm thick) to space the two apart alleviated this. I've since stopped using the cobra MT600 entirely though since their performance in woodland is very poor.

Thanks for the input Cheese.
I'll take your advice since I only play woodland...
