plates in plate carriers. what do you use?
17 March, 2013, 19:03
so i realise not everyone runs actual ballistic plates in they're plate carriers so i was wondering what you use instead to fill out your vests for example; bits of foam or fake plastic SAPI plates. i for one use old A4 size magazines, they fit in my eagle SPC perfectly.
thanks

100% Genuine Obamis Defence training SAPI plates.
Can easily defeat an airsoft M50 Barrett bb, but will fail to stop anything more powerful than a .22.

Exactly that.
Cheap, lightweight and unlike mags/books etc not going to weigh more than the user when it gets wet, as its waterproof

Used nothing in my Eagle PC and it was always fine. My OTV I used cut up rollmat until I bought the kevlar soft inserts. My MBSS I use plastic dummy SAPIs I bought in HK and my Flyye CIRAS has some rubber/foam plates already in there

Roll mat in one, but real rigid plates in the other... It feels nice to wear given the weight keeps it in place although can get a little tiring.

Re: plates in plate carriers. what do you use?
What is the purpose of adding weight to your plate carriers? is it just to weigh it down to keep the shoulder straps down and flat and to prevent movement?
just wondering as I have just got one,
cheers

I found with my fake plates in the rig is more rigid less floppy etc. when you pull for mags and do zips but mine are empty as i don't like them weighing too much.

If it has the soft armour sewn in, it's the MBAV, mine was just the plate carrier with cummerbund
