G&P or TM ?
14 March, 2009, 23:06
Hey all,
I am looking to buy a new gun, but cant decide what make to get.
It will be an M4 varient (M733, CQB, M4A1).
I have a TM and the moment and internally its great, I have not felt it neccasery to upgrade the spring or upgrade it internally (Apart from a tightbore) and it is running really well.
The downside of my TM is all the external parts, I would like something metal and solid so I am looking towards G&P, I have heard the externalls of G&P guns are amazing, but i cant find much info on the internalls.
So how would you say G&P compare to TM ?
Thanks for any info, (And sorry if this is in the wrong section)
Bert.

Re: G&P or TM ?
G&P are great, but their hopup units/rubbers are appaling. Putting a TM rubber in does help a lot. G&P gearboxes are very nice quality and the standard M120 motor provides a high rof.
TM guns are fantastic too. They do have lower fps and slower rof than G&P, but are more reliable. Their hops are also the best out there in my opinion. Stock, the Marui will outrange the G&P, even if the G&P is given a TM rubber. Even more so with a new spring in the TM gun.
Obviously as you say a metal body is neded for the TM gun if you want to reliabley put it to heavy use, band these aren't cheap new. Second hand the prices come down a bit, but you will end up with a damn nice gun.

True, true.
However, i would value having a rock solid gun higher than having that extra range. You can fix being out of range by getting closer but you cant fix a wobbly gun/barrel easily. Inluding the sideways movement aswell.

Re: G&P or TM ?
At the moment i have a TM M4 S-System so the dreaded barrel wobble isnt really a problem.
I am looking for a good all round gun.
Would i be better off getting a TM M733 (Preffered model) and getting a metal body & spring upgrade ?
Thanks for any info,
Bert.

TM with metal body upgrade, every time.

Agreed, the metal body fixes any wobble that TM guns get. I currently have a Hurricane metal body on the way for my TM M16a2.

Also i've owned and used both types and ive found that the TM outer barrels wobble as well as they're made of 3 pieces too. G&P have on-piece barrels in them.

Re: G&P or TM ?
damn.. you've all made really good points there.
when i move to hk, i'm looking at getting the g&p URX M4. its just an m4, but without the collar between the receiver and front grip part. the rail over the top literally just continues straight onto the front ris.
so i thought g&p were miles better - but i guess you can't deny the quality of tm internals. not so powerful, but just flawless.
can i put the g&p urx m4 body on a tm gearbox, and have the gearbox suped up a little? what's a cheap but reliable option?

Re: G&P or TM ?
What you say is fine, a G&P external build should accomodate a TM gearbox. If you wantit to run faster, chuck in a G&P M120 motor, or a CA highspeed. Don't get a systema highspeed unless you want to upgrade other things and mod the piston.

Waste of money if you're after a decent quality metal body. G&P bodies are $180, so it would be cheaper to stick in a TM gearbox if you're that worried about G&Ps internals, or just upgrade the G&P internals if\when anything goes wrong

Re: G&P or TM ?
I am now looking to get a new gun and try and make it look and feel as realistic as possible (Please dont suggest Systema lol :D).
I want a gun that will perform well so i am looking towards TM, and dropping in an M100 spring and putting a metal body on it; and basically changing a fair few parts externally.
My question is, would I be better off using a TM or a G&P M4 as a base for my project ?
Thanks,
Bert.
