M14 Question
20 May, 2013, 14:39
I'm looking at buying a new m14 socom I see 2 options do I get the Marui at £360 or the G&G at £220 and put the £140 left into upgrading it (I don't want to go dmr with it just make it a good all round aeg) I know the G&G m14 mags can be a problem but for a £100 saving I can deal with hi-caps what would you guys do?

Re: M14 Question
I'd go for G&G and upgrades that don't void the warranty (check that though) so getting a nice tb barrel, sights, and an 11.1v lipo.
also some spare mags / molle pouches ...

That's lucky - don't you have one for sale in the Classifieds section fine sir?

Re: M14 Question
^^^ There's someone with either a lucky (or no) experience with Systema internals...
Out of the box, the TM is probably one of the best AEGs. If you're happy with the standard rifle, around 270fps, but still with good range/accuracy, then go for it. I'm sure people will disagree, but the TM M14 doesn't really like being upgraded anyway

Re: M14 Question
Having run on for years, TM all the way, out the box they are superb. If at some point you want to look at upgrading then you really don't need to do much to make a excellent gun amazing. Tight bore, New piston head and larger spring to get it up to 350 and bang.
If its done right and good spring used you'll see little to no FPS variance. The gearbox is bomb proof, having run a setup as described above (did not change shims for metal) I wouldn't be far off putting 100k and 3 spring changes through that gun over 5/6 years of use. It now lies in bits waiting for a rebuilt after the shims and original gears shat themselves. But one thing is certain it will fire again another day.

TM hands down! By far the most accurate rif I've owned in the last 10 years, all I did was run a tightbore and m100 spring, really regret selling it

Re: M14 Question
I dont know about the stocks but I would say go TM M14, mags are easier to get as the G&G ones are bespoke for the CA/G&G.
Your other option is the cheaper new Cyma M14, its a TM clone, half the price and takes all the same upgrades as the TM. Oh and plus they are vastly improved over the early ones.

Re: M14 Question
I have upgraded the TM and the first thing you notice when stripping them is.... These are built like a tank! Seriously well built and very heavy.
Need upgrading to get the best out of them though. But don't they all?
