Sand/bead blasting service
25 February, 2010, 16:33
Hi everyone, I have a worn ICS receiver and buffer tube in need of repainting but would prefer to have them sandblasted to a matt, grainy surface instead. The parts are made from alu. Anyone here can offer this service to me or know where i could get this done? TIA.

Re: Sand/bead blasting service
you googled for it?
as any company will do it, have a look on some custom motorbike forums, as the bike builders often do a bit of sandblasting powdercoating (most companys do both)

Re: Sand/bead blasting service
If you send the parts through I can see what we can do, we normally sandblast stones and concrete but I would have thought it would handle this, you would have to paint it yourself though.
Pm me If your interested, no charge just postage

you could make a sand blaster if you have access to a compressor and a spray gun, and the proper protection and environment and....i would take littletrucks very generous offer

Re: Sand/bead blasting service
Thanks very much Littletruck, i really appreciate you taking the time to help me on this!
edit:
Question, will it be ok to leave the receiver, buffer tube as is after sandblasting? I kinda like the matt, rough finish and 2 tone look in contrast with the black crane stock and DD mk18 ris.

Re: Sand/bead blasting service
You could, but my guess is it won't like water then. So would need a thorough clean after a wet skirmish
