  • AK variant free float front ends

I have an itch that needs scratching (thank you BAMF, but not that type... )

I really want to build a suppressed AK like the one Red Jacket do. I am after the makes of free floating AK front ends, be they rails or tubes.

    Any pointers appreciated.

    Like this?

I don't know of any mass produced kits which are like this. You could get something similar to that from the US, but there's no guarantee it'll mount on your AK model.

Another option is the standard M4 RI System, it'd take modification but with the right tools it is possible to mount it at the receiver end.

I remember someone was making L85 (and potentially other) handguard tube things with RIS here on the forums, wouldn't surprise me if they could fabricate one if anyone remembers who that was...

the front sight on it intrigues me, it looks almost MP5-like.

It may be a modified AR rail system?

That is the exact thing i am after, although i am wanting a Dragunov stock on mine too.

The AK in question will be WE open bolt GBBR

The ZK-SD made by Red Jacket is custom, the front RIS is bolted into the receiver.

The closest you might get is from the arse ugly, tan abomination that is the Beta Project AK (vom, everywhere)

Re: AK variant free float front ends

I found a photo of an Airsoft AK47 with an AR RIS system attached.

So there is a way of attaching an AR rail system which would make the free-float aspect a hell of a lot easier

Matrix make the AK key (converts it to accept AR RIS)

Google 'ACTION AK Variation M4 RAS Adaptor', lets you put any M4 free float on an AK.

Re: AK variant free float front ends

The m4 front end adaptor looks balls. There is a "custom airsoft" guy on facebook who has made a few galils and AKs using them - his idea of "cool" is to then stick a flip up front sight on the front rail. It's only about .5" below the rear sight (making it useless) but hey, it am bestest because it has an M4 rail system!

My bet would be start with a 105 then find someone who can mill out and modify a ris to mount to the outer barrel/trunnion. I'd have thought if it was cleverly done you could use the trunnion pin to help secure the rail system.

Re: AK variant free float front ends

The base gun is gonna be either of:

WE AK47 PMC open bolt GBBR
                              or
                              WE AK74UN open bolt GBBR

I know WE pistols are not to the same dimensions but their AR platform seems to take the rails okay so i am hoping their AKs are similarly close to spec.

I noticed the AR rail is too low for a normal bolt on font sight but that is not an issue for me as i will be using optics mounted onto the side rail of the AK.

The next step is remove material from the front and rear of the bolt and build it back up with some form of rubber compund to eliminate the metal on metal clanking and make it more of dull thud.

                              This is the "dream" gun

                              .
                              .
                              .
                              .
.This is another option, especially if the PMC is the donor gun
