Re: ares weapons
How are Ares externals on any of their suoport weapons 'rock solid'?
Theyre crude, the little details like non-functional cocking handles are not fitting for a product of the price tag.
Frankly save some cash and get an A&K version of the same model as i said earlier.
The ares support weapons are externally dog-s***e.

Re: ares weapons
The tavor is gorgeous, and once you have removed the gearbox from the body it is a dream to work on.
Getting the gearbox out of the body (never mind back in) is another thing entirely though...

You see, now you've got me wanting one again. The issue is as you say though. It's a right pain in the arse to fully strip down. And even worse to get it all back together in one piece.
Mine was lovely out of the box, i wish i never started fiddling about with it to be honest. If anything i only made matters worse

Re: ares weapons
As an aside, Ares are yet to produce a hop unit that I would regard as "functional"

My ares m4 hop unit is pretty good . Am getting 55/ 60 Mtrs ( man sized targets with it ) it Dosnt lose adjustment either , think it varies on different ares models as my g36 is terrible .

Re: ares weapons
Ive had an Ares m249 para. The gearbox was plastic but there is a video on youtube showing how tough the plastic really is. Its biggest downfall is the hop... it just doesnt.

You see a mate of mine happens to be selling hers (the one I've worked on). We managed to get it to reliably feed on MAG midcaps and DyTac Invader Mags but that was it, the G&P midcaps she bought weren't having none of it. (She did buy it second hand)
Running it on the right mags made it an incredibly fun gun to fire though :D

Re: ares weapons
I used to run the King Arms 360 rds PMAGs. Never skipped a beat. And those mags were the dogs danglies. No winding after 20 or so shots, 5-6 winds of the wheel let you fire off half a mag.
