  • Pistol Slide Engraving M&P

    Hello everyone

I have been looking at getting markings engraved on the WE M&P pistol. I have received a quote for complete laser engravings across both sides of the slide. Laser engraving leaves the engraving white. Obviously for a one off job it is quite expensive so I wondered if anyone else would want one done to?

I predict cost at being approx £40 inc return postage. May be cheaper? Pm if you are interested.

At this time it's just for the m&p

Hey man, you got a Timpsons or similar engraver in town? Because they'll do a pistol slide for a tenner. I've gotten my pistols engraved on the slide as well and it was an hour's wait and 15quid for two slides. The guy was pretty happy to work with something other than dog tags too.

You can buy HK made/branded WE M&Ps with full trades you know.

Laser engraving (burning paint or anodizing white) is nothing like what the M&P has on its slide (actual engraving, involving the removal of material). Apurturesci's right - there are engraved models available from retail which are much better - the HK3P version's probably the most cost effective but the VFC M&P9c (if you don't mind the compact) is probably the best.

Laser engraving is what was done on tactical version, possibly a custom job by crw.

The hk3 ones are hard to find.

I was quoted £100 for the stencil and engraving from a local engraver which is very expensive.

Laser engraving came in at £80

If timpson's can do slides for the price quoted above then that's brilliant. Just not sure they would be able to do the logos even if I provided them with vectored images. We can but hope.

I should mention that Timpsons definitely does not do paint-burning or anodizing. It's computer-guided engraving, as in proper drill (I know it's not a drill tip) onto metal stuff.

I wanna get timpson to engrave my L119a1 but i cant find hi res pictures of the Diemaco trades ect, either there not hi res or they just look shoddy on my work pc haha!

Timpsons were going to engrave my Barrett lower receiver with the Barrett trades but they said due to size it would have to be sent to their main site and it would only cost me £20-£25

Do you know anyone is is good with design program's? They should be able to produce the image you want and ensure that it is vectored. As soon as my brother sorts out the image I will pop into timpson's for a quote

I need some help getting Colt trademarks converted to vector images; it's the sort of thing graphic artists can do in their sleep but the only ones I know are specialists in different areas. I don't suppose your brother can do that, too?

That's Keith Brown (who changes the name of his business every six months to avoid his past catching up with him - I see the old Airsoft Engraver address now reroutes to the Airsoft Machine Shop page) and you should avoid him like the plague. He's apparently well-meaning, but by all accounts he has no idea how to run a business - your items will probably disappear permanently; in the unlikely event that you are able to retrieve them they will be severely delayed. If you can stand over his shoulder and watch him do the work, fine. Otherwise, find someone else who will actually do it rather than just promise to.

@ Puresilver- read an awful lot of threads about 'Keith' so thought id trust him with some of my stuff...think of me as an engraving hamster. Despite the slightly inconsistent email responses I received my MK23 slide back and was absolutely chuffed with the results. Getting the project up and running was indeed slow but once he had the slide I had it back within 2 days. Its since been to the painters (cerakoted by Riflecraft) and is now back with Keith for the final laser engraving of the smaller details but I trust he'll deliver on this too.

P.S-actually was going to email you about Keiths' work as I may do this on my upcoming Sp2022 we spoke about

Well, maybe as more people became aware business dropped off to a level he's actually able to deal with... I'll take my chances with my local, I think. What on Earth would you want engraving onto an SP2022?!
