  • Breaking in new motors

I've read an article somewhere in one of my airsoft tech books, that to break in a new motor, "one should hook up a 4-cell battery (1.2v each) and run the motor continuously for 3 minutes". Anyone done similar here? If not how do YOU break in your motors?
(goes without saying that JG motors don't need breaking in)

I dunno with airsoft motors but RC motors can be run in in deionized water but I think that applies to brushless ones

I ran in the last motor I bought, I used 3 cells from a 8.4v pack and ran it for about 10 minutes. Not sure how much good it did though it certainly didnt do any damage.

The point of bedding in motors is to 'break in' the brushes, get them shaped in a controlled fashion.
        Slower the better.
Some guys have been known to do it in an oil bath.

What harm can it do if you don't break in motors?

                    Re: Breaking in new motors

I break in any gun fitted with ares motors , by first removing them from the gun
Then I have a set ritual of finding a nice flat slab of concrete or metal plate
I then have several alcoholic beverages before I dig out my largest sledgehammer and smash the cursed things into a thousand pieces . !!!
The feel of relief and de stressing Is my ultimate reward .

It goes without saying that my ARES G36 will not have its original motor for long Stealth.

                      Or GBX for that matter

Ares motors are about as much use as a fart in a space suit !! Useless power hungry badly built pos motors .

The GBX is non-standard with a microswitch, and their pistons are renowned for being fragile
