How about one for your local site? No careful owners, buyer collect maybe a bit tricky unless you know someone at Brize Norton!

Would love one but like you've said mate, logistics is a massive factor. Never cheap and rarely practical.
Give it a bit and they'll start popping up on the UK based auction websites too. Afghan fever only weeks away.

I'll hazard a guess that for £3,000 they will have been stripped of electronics, engine etc. Essentially a 20 tonne hull with wheels...?

They usually take them back to the guts aye, removing all serialised/sensitive parts. Once they've taken what they can, some goes missing and the rest gets thrown in the burn pit.
You're basically getting an expensive armour plated Landy shell but if you live in Mancs or a violent caravan park; could be a winner. No council tax on that bad boy.

Even if it doesn't run, it's a pretty awesome thing to have knocking around a skirmish site - particularly for scenario games where it's been blown up and you need to retrieve something or someone from it. I wonder if you could rig up a pyrotechnic system that could produce a huge, blazing fire with smoke at the press of a button, and turn it off again by pressing it again? A mission to secure the area around a damaged vehicle, extinguish the fire and retrieve the crew would be very
Black Hawk Down
...
If you want something that runs, this ex-REME
CVRT
has gotten airsoft written all over it. Diesel for efficiency, lightweight aluminium hull barely tipping the scales at just over nine tons, and just 88 hours on the Cummins 6BTA! Plus, as it's a Samson variant you get things that might prove legitimately useful on a skirmish site - extra space inside, winches and ground anchors for retrieving stuck vehicles up to 12t; all sorts of things that might come in handy.

I've spoken to a pilot mate and asked if she can put one in the back of her C17!
