Itd look nicer on a side mount mate(the mount that attaches to the side, and sits on top of battery cover). Plus then itd be useable.

Nope, eotechs/red dots want to be mounted on AKs as far forward as possible. Better target acquisition because its easier to sight (when you take into account how low the AK sights are to start with, a sight far forward is much more natural). Its actually a lot more difficult to sight using an AK side rail or (IMHO) a russian made optic. A nice fusion of western and eastern tech much better I think.

I'm still a purist when it comes to AK's - fusing western and eastern together on a AK is blasphemy I think.

To be honest I think the side mount looks horrible in addition to being totally useless :p I think on a tactical AK the eotech should be on the rail as far forward as possible- there's no point having an eotech if its all the way back next to your eye.

Although, Ive just realised I dont think youd actually be able to fit an eotech on a 74U, just on a regular 74 or 47.

Klashnikovs and all variants deserve to have NO Eotechs on in my opinion, I did try to place a Reticle Sight on mine and it lasted oh, 5 seconds before I chucked it off and threw it to a friend. Iron Sight on an Kalashnikov is the best way to go!

Only additions to my AKs sights is some night covers for the iron sights.

I thought about a Cobra, but i didnt much like the look. With the GP-30 it was looking a little bit busy.
