Advice cleaning gun

Iv got a hold of some of that gun wrap from Gun Skin ( hopefully mentioning them isnt violating any rules )
it is advised that i clean the body of the gun to get rid of grease
is it possible to use white spirit to clean the gun?
It's a TM sopmod btw, metal body. just worried it can damage the metal or plastic grip and stock

Just use a light detergent to degrease the externals
