Pistols by The Gunsmith. Have a look and tell me what you think.
17 May, 2014, 11:16
Good morning all.
I have been lurking in the background on this forum for a while now but after doing a complete rebuild and upgrade on a Samurai Edge for a friend of mine he suggested that I post some photos for feedback from the airsoft community.
My father, now 78 and still an avid shooter, was asked to make a set of grips for the gentleman who he gets his pellets and bits from.
Sadly before he had chance he was diagnosed with cancer. The chemotherapy has made him really ill and he couldn't do it.
I have been gun smithing on and off for some 30 years now and learnt my tradecraft from a knife maker called Chris Reeve when I lived in South Africa.
I have attached some images simply to gauge interest and ask for some feedback from the airsoft community as a whole.
I posted on a couple of Facebook pages and have been overwhelmed at the response.
The pistol came to me in a very sorry state.
I rebuilt most of the interior, took all the play out of the slide and barrel.
The safety, mag release, slide release, hammer, trigger and all the small furniture were stripped back and blued, not painted but properly blued. The rest of the pistol was also stripped back, the casting fails removed and then polished to a mirror finish.
The grips are made from scratch and custom for to the pistol. The wood is ochre that I inlayed with silver and a silver tree of life. They are flush to the grip and can't be felt. The grips were then hand stippled to give texture.
I would love to hear your comments and get feedback.
Many thanks
Malakin aka The GunSmith.

Sorry to hear about your father - I hope he makes it out the other side a lot better.
The pistol is beautiful - I doubt he could've done a better job, well done!

With workmanship like that, never lurk.
Sing loud, sing proud.
Absolutely appreciate what you have created there.
