  • New Locations, Training and Missions

    Hi,

I'm the owner of a Global Security Consultancy and Training venture. We have had a large number of requests to provide Tactical Training, Scenarios and some Full bore interest live firing training.

As part of the planning stage I believe it is of importance to see what the enthusiasts want. Our main aim in all training and scenarios is to both test the students/trainers and offer them specific courses of instruction. To that end I would like to get some feedback on the following ideas:

    1. A large scale tactical AS weekender in Slovenia with or without a full bore tactical shoot. Our armory is massive and if dont' have a weapons system we can source it if enough interest. The full bore shoot is not a cabby off prague style but a tactical interest in skill set period taught by UKSF instructors. The location also has casinos, restaurants and other activities should clients want to explore. The main source of interest for this has shown keenness for a tactical camp.

    2. A large scale AS weekender in the UK and then moving onto Slovenia for a final ex. Again the scenario would be designed by Ex UKSF including 14 Intelligence guys. These weekender would be in the James Bond style and include air travel.

    3. We have been asked to make our Tactical Firearms Training and Firearms Competency Certification open to Airsofters to enhance skills and drills, receive tuition/advice from the best and offer them certification of competency. These 2 day courses over a weekend would also include getting hands on full bore weapons systems and safely becoming proficient.

Feedback would be appreciated and we would like to add people to our database to send out events that would be of interest.

    Thanks

    Matt

Combining a trip with an SAI course could be an option; then it's a nice break/holiday and you're getting a qualification at the same time. Not sure why you'd need a close protection qualification or anything like that, but it's just a thought!

The guys who came over to do the course wanted the extra tactical firearms training and the ones that passed we could offer our competency certification. Unless they ever planned to change careers your right its just something nice to have.

Offering trips for people looking to come over and do some training for shooting competitions could be another option, if the range fees are cheap enough and the weather is better than here!

Yes we have Military and Private clients from all over the world come to use our trainers and facilities. Recently we had a team of airsofters from Sweden come over and spend the weekend going through tactical drills with our instructors in preparation for a competition. Thats made is aware of the potential hence why I'm trying to learn more about airsoft and what quality training/shooting you guys/girls may be interested in.

Haven't we been down this road before? What's your CV, your background? Your company?
This forum has had people by the score, coming on, offering high end training, always, of course, by ex SF guys, never just a bloke who has done 10 years in the Rifles. Then what happens to these people, they get grilled and disappear from the forum.
You need to make yourself seriously credible before coming on with this.
Plus 14 int? Who haven't existed in years and whilst associated with the sas were primarily an intelligence gathering force, not SF per say.

Re: New Locations, Training and Missions

Funnily enough I completed 10 years in the Royal Green Jackets whom are now the Rifles (4th battalion). I haven't mentioned my company name as I don't want to come on here and be accused of spamming or for the sole purpose of marketing. Not all our instructors are ex UKSF however your correct I did mention our Training Director who WAS 14 Intelligence, due to his age and the fact you rightly said they don't exist anymore. I mentioned UKSF and 14 Int in the same breath as they working together provide top class (proven) Instruction and Scenarios. The 14 Int guy has spent years using his intelligence skills and knowledge after his military service in various locations dealing with incidents and scenarios. I wanted to create a picture of what we are about.

I'm more than happy to be grilled and answer questions in return for feedback and direction from the guys/girls who may use our services. In short I own a Security Operations and Training Consultancy. We have a fully purpose Security Training Academy in Europe and have run a recent course of instruction for airsofters. I wish to offer more courses for airsofters, tactical training, missions and full bore shoots. Like I said 10 years Infantry in Recce Platoon, COP etc and 8 years Private Security, Team Leader, Ops Manager and now CEO.

              Thanks for your comments Snowdrop.

Re: New Locations, Training and Missions

I think your two biggest issues with appealing to airsofters are going to be:

1, PRICE. As you saw on your other thread, the first thing most people will ask is: "how much?" This is a forum where you get a lot of posts like: 'can I get a decent gun for £50?' so trying to get people to pay for this could be tricky. Out of all the airsofters on here you're probably only going to be accessible to a very few (I'm going out for a week to Euro Tactical, one of your competitors, in the summer so I know how high the price can get!). That said, if you think your prices are low and competitive better to get a ballpark figure out there on threads like this, even if it's just: 'Packages starting from £500!' or similar; otherwise you run the risk of people just assuming they can't afford it and not reading the rest.

2, PRACTICAL APPLICATION FOR AIRSOFT. I'm spending a lot of money on my range trip this summer because I just enjoy shooting and want to learn how to use a variety of weapons, but a lot of airsofters might be let down by this as an 'experience.' A lot of airsofters basically want to pretend that they're not just playing a glorified game of toy soldiers and want to look more like they're uber leet speshul forces as they stomp around with their toy guns. With this in mind, you should probably ensure that you're offering things like 'tactical room clearance,' 'stacking up,' etc. in order to attract more airsofters.
102nd Chairborne Rangers - "Intelluctus VCRAus recte"

Keyboard Commando - "He who argues until the other person gives up and goes away wins"

Re: New Locations, Training and Missions

My local rifle shop runs training days for miltary/contractors covering a whole host of weapons and drills etc and I mentioned doing a course for airsofters to them. The reply I got was that they one course they do is for 6 people as they like to keep a high instructor/pupil ratio and is around £600. At that price, I would gather, it would be out of most airsofters price range.

Re: New Locations, Training and Missions

The problem with verifying any affiliation with special forces is that not proving it is its own form of defence.
I could tell you I spent 100 years in the SAS and when the naturally sceptical masses ask me to prove it, I can just brush you off with the 'No thanks. I'd have to kill you' routine.
You'd either have to remain sceptical or just take my word for it.

The truth is, I'd rather talk shop with a Rifleman of 10 years than someone who simply claims to be SF. Eventually it goes full circle and the guys who were spooks don't even claim to be, as simply telling you so exposes the obvious problem in the matrix.
That said... the proof is in the pudding, though I wouldn't insinuate for one minute that green army infantry couldn't teach boy scouts and SF are absolute fire-breathers. That's Hollywood bullshit through and through.

As for marketing and public interest; it's definitely a good edge to maintain. I worked for the special forces charity Pilgrim Bandits for several years and realised how easy it was to reel people in with that exclusive cloak and dagger image.
Offer something more prestigious and with greater substance, and people will always flock to it.

I shoot in the US, UK and I've done a few tourist jobbies in Poland. Europe is always cheaper and you always pay much, much more than £600 Stateside.

Practical applications for airsoft? Only as far as imitation is concerned. I could shoot my airsoft guns like firearms but that doesn't make them firearms. The problem is getting hardcore airsofters to realise it.
However, it's still fun to learn those skills and airsoft does offer a risk free, none-shooter friendly platform to experiment with.

Best of luck with your venture, mate. I know a few of your Bulford guys from further down saaawf.

Re: New Locations, Training and Missions

That price is high. Our training weekend is not only full bore training but in the Alpine region of Slovenia so a mini break also. As a company we have operational interests that are going well, so this is not a money making scheme but ideas we have been asked to research and offer to non-contractors/Mil.

The initial request came after we ran a Brit Mil standard Sniper Course for AS. The course was taught by Brit Mil Sniper Instructors (non UKSF ) and the feedback was for more opportunity. 600GBP for 2 days shooting is expensive and I agree unrealistic for most AS.

                      Thanks for your comments.

Certainly sounds interesting. For myself I would mostly be interested in the tactical weekend and perhaps the certification. Of course all comes down to cost.

                              Hi,

Thanks for your message. First of all our website have been designed and verified by professionals. We only use imagery that has connections with Contego Officium, be it directly, sub contracted or one of our currently employees. In this case one of our current employees had been deployed elsewhere and when designing the site we had a whole batch of imagery to choose from. If the Image was not taken by Contego directly for marketing purposes it was firstly checked via the contractor submitting the image and then verified as open source.

In this case if their is an issue with the image in question we would be happy to investigate this matter. We would not intend to use or copy any other imagery from companies involved in the security provision industry, we have enough of our own.

Rather than use an open forum to accuse a company of stealing, it would have been far better to approach us and ask if we are aware this image is being used elsewhere. Contego Officium always carries out Due Diligence in all its business concerns as well marketing.

If you have any questions or this answer to your accusation is not enough please contact us and we will gladly help. Our contact numbers are on the website and we are available to speak to.

We have removed the image in question and replaced it with a image from a Contego Maritime Operation.

                              Kind regards,

                              Matt
