  • bfg question

i sold a bfg a week or so ago to another player on the forums, and i was told it is not firing properly, the pin is moving fine but not striking the cap with enough force to detonate it, has anyone got any ideas that could sort it out?

thank you for any help you may have.

yes - i have an idea for you. Is it a 9mm or 6mm blank being used?
and is the pin rounded or pointed

it could be the location of the strile on the blank rather than the force

some of the earlier BFG's had this issue it i remember correctly

it is a 9 mm blank, not sure about the pin i will ask him, im asuming that if it is rounded its not long enough then?

It's rounded (I'm the buyer in question) and didnt work on 9 mils or 12 gauges. is there a fix for this?

is the cap screwing down all the way? could be a damaged thread or abit of dirt in the threads

was it firing ok before it was sold?

try spraying a bit of silicon spray into the hole were the pin comes up, it may help loosen things up so the mechanisms move better.

I cant really test this when not at a skirmish site, was fiddling with it at all breaks yesteday but couldnt get anything to work. I live in a heavy residential area so letting off blank rounds ain't a great idea...

Did try the silicone spray idea. The bases of the blanks are definitely struck, but they dont go off. The same blanks are set off by my other BFG.

clean the screw thread on both the cap and the grenade with a toothbrush (I have used kitchen towel in the past which worked ok) and some silicon spray, you will probably get some of the spray into the hole were the pin comes up which could loosen things there as well.

The unfortunatley it is a weeks wait to test.
