  • Good places to Skirmish?!?

Whaddup guys, looking for some good places to Skirmish in the Sussex / West Sussex area. I want to start going to a large variety of fields, and only decent ones. Epsom and Holmbush can be ticked off the list. Primarily I'd like to not go 'too' far, but I'd say 5-10 miles is within reason.

So yeah, any recommendations of some decent fields with friendly players and good marshals, comment away! Cheeerrss guys! :P

If you are mobile enough to hit Portsmouth, I can't recommend South Coast CQB enough. Very professionally marshalled and a good site. Don't believe the name though, it's not really CQB unless you want it to be and hit the most contested buildings. Lots of opportunity to have a good day there with bolt action or DMR also.

Haven't been in ages, but EAG Dorking was always a fun fragfest

        Re: Good places to Skirmish?!?

I was at EAG Dorking about a month ago, it was definitely good. Marshals took the job seriously. Small issue with someone using poor quality BBs (had fragments all over my vest from a hit to my mags), they were on it immediately and effectively. They ran games in a quite open area in the morning which wasn't to my tastes, but the afternoon in the area with more cover was excellent.

Ace Combat's site/s in Kent are well worth a visit. I have yet to visit their Pembury site but fully intend to when it is fully operational.

          CSW in Portsmouth is superb.

Holmbush - as you mentioned - is also a great site.

Not been to any other Sussex sites for about a decade.

I like well organised/marshalled sites, and the three above fall into that category.

Portsmouth isn't too far, about an hour and a half on a train. Not driving atm which is why I needed somewhere close haha, but I will probably check Portsmouth out. Mind linking me the site? :P

Just had a look and actually looks a quality site! I thought the only site in Hampshire was groundzero which doesn't interest me tbh. No link for the prices on the page, mind telling us? I'll defo give it a go!

                  Re: Good places to Skirmish?!?

SCCQB is £34 for the day, and in Gosport. I usually do public transport to it myself, just as its cheaper than getting the car across on the ferry. I get the IOW ferry to Portsmouth Harbour Station, then the Gosport ferry and then there is a number 9 bus that goes hourly to right outside the site. If I miss the bus it is a case of sharing a taxi. I usually go with a few people.

                      Re: Good places to Skirmish?!?

As an Isle of Wight resident I can tell you we are not part of Hampshire, but can tell you that there are corners of facebook that you can troll hard by arguing with island residents about it. Pointing out that we come under Hampshire police is a good place to start.

IOW has Island Recon. 15 acre woodland site with a good culture of sportsmanship among the regulars. Because the IOW doesn't have deer or grey squirrels, our woodlands get a lot more undergrowth in the summer so if you really like sneaking its a cracking site. Site is not easy to connect to with Public Transport. So it's either bring the car across (approx £45-60 day return in the summer, which is ok if you can split it with a few passengers) or come across as a foot passenger (£15-18 day return) and get on the FB group to ask a local to hook you up with a lift.

Most mainland visitors we see there either have a family connection to the island, are sneaking away from the family holiday to get a bit of airsoft in, or have come across as a party to share costs.

Maybe...looks like the dates aren't going to match up though...annoyingly.

Something to plan for the next, next time.

                            Cheers!

You also have badlands in Havant. Actually not far from rowlands castle train station. 100 acres of woodland. EAG Worthing right at the bottom of the A24 too.
My biggest fear is that if I die, my mrs will sell of my airsoft kit for what I told her I paid!
