problem with a sale
21 May, 2015, 21:05
After your opinions guys. Recently sold a rif on here and seems to have gone sour. I've offered the buyer a refund but only when I receive it back but he's addament that he wants the refund before it gets sent back! I've not argued the case if it was working or not and have not once refused to issue a refund. However now he's threatening me that I either issue the refund now or I quote " your perfect feedback score will suffer" . Im not in the wrong here am I? If I refund the money now am I likelly to get the gun back?

I think your right the gun should be returned or at least give you proof of posting with a tracking number before you refund

Re: problem with a sale
I wouldn't give a refund until I had the items back. Otherwise he'll end up raising a dispute, getting the money and still having the RIF.
Make sure you keep the messages for evidence. But you are well within your right to have the item back before a refund is issued.
You didn't happen to sell to a no0b member who's only had an account for a few days did you?

Re: problem with a sale
As above, what's the feedback like of the buyer, if its less than your own then only refund once the guns back, if he's apparently well respected long term member, then maybe a partial refund as a sign of good faith, ultimately though, you hold the aces, if he goes for a dispute then all you need to do is mention GUN to PayPal, they'll wash their hands of it.

Re: problem with a sale
The annoying thing is I have not once refused the guys money back. He's a long term member. I'm not trying to rip anyone off, if I was he wouldn't have received the gun in the first place. I could argue the toss that it was working but would rather the gun back, issue the refund and then I'll fix whatever's broken. Sounds fair to me!

Well within your rights to hold onto the money until you get the gun back. You have enough feedback to show you're not trying to scam the buyer by having the items back and keeping his refund.
I've been on the other end of this situation recently. It was all amicable but I opened a paypal dispute so they could log everything that was going on, I requested the refund on there, the seller agreed, and I got refunded when I sent the item back. I was under the impression that this is generally how it worked.

Yeah, that's how it works I believe - this other forum member should take comfort that you have 100% feedback, pick his toys up and just send the gun back.

Re: problem with a sale
When you buy from a shop you have to send their stock back before they refund. I suggest you take the same approach here.

If you want to report his PMs where he's threatening you, I'll review them. Should he then give you bad feedback based on the fact he wanted his money back first, then I always have the ability to remove it...

Sounds like a scam. He knows you have perfect feedback so should be trustworthy. Chancer. Stick to your guns.

Actual friday morning rage reading this. Sees good feedback and instead of thinking "oh good, i can deal fairly with this person" thinks "oh good, there is something i can threaten as leverage". Who does that?

As for the last comment " actual Friday morning rage reading this " get over your self .
The facts are , I received this , it was non functional , the seller and I came an amicable agreement .
i apologise for my initial reaction to the seller , he has proved himself to be a true gentleman .

Don't take it the wrong way - We're all very happy it turned out amicably.
I believe he was angered by the initial reaction, justifiably.

Re: problem with a sale
Update to this , after a great deal of thought and considering all of the scorn poured open me by various posters who immediately jumped to the defence of the seller , I feel it is right for me to put the record straight .
This gun ended up needing a complete new gearbox & a new motor .
The original gearbox casing was cracked in 2 places , there were several screws missing , the ones that were left have had the hex head rounded off so could not be removed without drilling out .
The pinion gear on the motor was badly damaged .
Once I finally got it apart , the piston teeth were all virtually non existent , the piston case was cracked , there were several breaks in the wiring both inside & outside of the gearbox which could easily cause a short and a possible lipo malfunction .
When I bought this , it was described to be completely functional , I asked for clarification of this and asked to be be told if there were any issues with it , however small . I was told there were none , apart from the broken bolt lock .
When I received it , it did not fire at all and on further inspection the other major issues were found .
I am not looking for anything from the seller ,we sorted it out between us .
I am well aware that buying things on a forum such as this that it is very much a case of buyer beware , but the unjustified comments above from people jumping on the band wagon were out of order .

Those comments were posted before you said anything so they could only go on what the buyer had said.
