PMR Radios for big sites
9 June, 2015, 19:45
Last year down at the NAE, me and the lads on my team found that our radios weren't quite up to the dealing with Ground Zero's dense woodland and varied terrain. At our local, the aging buggers do the job- but barely, and not with much flash. So we're looking into getting a new batch of team radios, specifically to deal with some of the tougher sites out there (speaking in terms of terrain, not players) like GZ, where the environment limits reception and the like. So I'm curious what radios airsofters favour- preferably ones that don't need a license or an engineering degree to use. I had asked Rich what radios the marshals down at GZ use, but I forgot. Like a muppet.
G&G TR15 Raider XL, CA G36K, G&G MP5A4, Cyma Thompson, APS AKS-74U, Custom TM Uzi, DE M56, WE Nighthawk X2, Cyma Glock 18C

Re: PMR Radios for big sites
It based on budget really,
Most use Motorolla Xtni 446. Or you can go buy the higher end TRI PRC 152, which are amazing clones.
Or buy a license and get any business class radio on 5W or higher. Which opens your world to anything..
I personally use PRC 152 and I have no issue but I also have Icom radios on business class 5W. (and for those keyboard trolls I do have a license because of my business).
So its really on you mate

Re: PMR Radios for big sites
All PMR radios are limited to 0.5w whatever make you go for, although the higher end radios from the better known makes should have better components to best make use of the limit in power.
If you want more power, you're going to need a licence to stay legal.

Re: PMR Radios for big sites
60 quid for a 3 year licence works in my book, running a pair of kenwood TK-350's along with some baofeng/other Chinese radios. 5w output and little chance of anyone "eavesdropping" or blocking your channel
