can someone please clean up which is which? as in what direction will the barrel/flashhider turn?

Well, for a CCW...

Turn left if the rifle's stock is facing you to remove, right to tighten.

Other way around for CW.

think of it as an allen key screwing a bolt in to the center of a clock. Turn the allen key clockwise, as in the direction of the second hand ticking, and it will tighten the bolt, counter clockwise, the opposite way, and it will loosen.

Most flash hiders are counter clockwise but there are exceptions, i think G&P is one. I dare say someone will enlighten the forum further on this point.

@hypnose, obv i know which way is ccw and cw, i was just unsure about which way was to tighten/loosen for the barrel.
