mate the ammount of radiation decaying will be astronomical. The lads who were picked to clear up cheynobl had a lethal dose within either 7 or 9 minutes of entering the actual plant site never mind the reactor building

Murta, you know this happend 23 years ago? xD
The radioactive dust is in some places higher than in others.
For example take the red forest, there the amount of radiation is higher, as the ground acts like a sponge and takes up the radiation. That means it stays in the ground for longer than in like cement grounds

did you fail GCSE physics or something the stuff they use in nuclear reactors hasn't got a massive halflife so it is pretty safe there you need to have like 500+ Msv just to have an increased chance of cancer you only get like 70Msv a year in chernobyl nowadays so your safe

mate ive spent 2 years studying radiation and stuff in physics im just saying that ammount of radiation blowing from the place and still is is dangerousish. the only reason why the whole of the ukraine wernt quite literally fudged is because the ground is a certain type of granite which is rare that is impervious to radioactive waves , the reactor is still sitting bubbling away 10m below the ground

edit : i ment when the reactor first blew.

and baffled i have an A* actually.

            Now that place looks awesome!

And Phil, I contacted tour kiev last year, worked out 600ish for three days. Even booking seperate with flights and a cheap hotel and transfers worked out roughly the same.

I did a lot of research last year and read some amazing exploration stories and studied a lot of documents on it as it became a real interest to me, but I couldn't really justify the £600 at the time for just a couple of days.

I may be up for it this year though if a bigger group could go and get costs down.

            Cheers.

Hey mate, if you are going this or next year, we can maybe do this together and get the cost down!

Yup although they stopped people visiting the military grave yard as the vehicles there still contain a lethal amount of radiation.

You still have to be very careful not to go in certain areas, and the sarcophigas isn't really that stable either.

                    Yep.
I will be up for this with my dad, bro and a friend.
Thats 6 cheaper than alone or with two people.
Is there an age limit on this?

                      Haha, I think I'll stick to playing S.T.A.L.K.E.R. :D

But yeah, minus the radiation, that looks like a pretty awesome place to play.

Why worry about radiation, looks like the reactor was never placed. I'm pretty sure no one would ever consider removing a reactor once it is passed it's sell by date. Or should that be half life, have to wait a while either way.
