  • Plate carriers?

    Hello all (:
    i would like some advice.
i cannot decide what to buy.
at the moment i am stuck between a warrior plate carrier which is £135
or a Viper SA assault vest which is £35
aswell as the cost the main concern i have with the plate carrier is that i think because of the solid design it would make me extremely hot.. however if anyone really recommends i wouldnt mind spending the money.
if anyone has any or similar or just wants to recommend a vest of some type please so
    thanks alot
    connor (:

    Re: Plate carriers?

I use either issue PLCE webbing, or a Warrior Ricas Compact with plates.
I prefer the RICAS, as it keeps everything close and tight, and is right where you need it all the time. Plus it looks awesome :D
But you do get quite hot in them,
what it comes down to though mate is personal preference. If you don't feel comfortable in a plate carrier, dont use it
Anyway, on a hot summer day, your gona get hot whether your wearing a plate carrier, or a vest

Viper SA vests are notoriously poor!

        Re: Plate carriers?

being a sole user of plate carriers (i own 2) and being of large build (17st) i can honestly say i do not find plate carriers make me too hot, main factor of heat is your clothing as opposed to your load carrying gear

the warrior plate carriers are excellent and one of the 2 that i own (tan ricas compact) - it is very comfortable, stable and carries oh so much more than any assault vest can do

i also dont find them perticularly restrictive - the exception being crawling and laying prone (put mag pouches to sides)

i guess its personal preference and style of play - i tend to stride into battle carrying 12 midcaps, lots of grenades, hydration bladder etc etc

if you enjoy the most fast paced assault style of play then i very much recomend them

i LOVE the look of the Warrior R.I.C.A.S Compact
but from "retailer removed" it only comes in tan and not in OD green.
i cant find it in green anywhere

i also like the idea of plate carriers because i have 8 mid caps and 2 hi caps for my M4 and the compact had enough mag pouches to fit all these but i want one in green!

The Viper LA Special Forces is by far superior to the SAAV if your on a budget, although you don't have a hydro-pack pouch on the back of the LA special forces vest.

Oh, and look up the RRV on a banned version of an popular auction site, it's a copy of the Pantac RRV and i've heard nothing but glowing reports about it. It's my next purchase.

SAAV mate. You can spend £135 on a vest if you wish but in my opinnion its slightly silly.

I just got a RICAS myself and I started out the day wearing a Tee and 95COMbat Smock, I will say that the combination of smock and ricas does get very hot, I stripped the smock off after a while and I was fine for the rest of the day. It fits very nicely and like others have said its all there, I got mine in black and including p&p it cost me about 139 of your english pound, lol.

That's bizarre, because I have a Warrior RICAS Compact hanging in my wardrobe right now in Olive Drab

Yeah, you can get them in OD, you'll probably need to wait for them to make more
Have a look at the stuff Bulle makes, its similar to warrior
