FPS limits for three round burst.
7 July, 2017, 12:42
Can somebody in the know clear this up for me
After a resent trip in Europe one site I played at said that a AEG with a mosfet firing on three round burst would fall under that same FPS limits as single shot!?!
I questioned it saying surely single shot refers to one pull of the trigger to one BB being fired? therefor as one trigger pull fired 3 BB that would be classed as full auto, and therefor be a lower FPS Limit would be I forced.
After spending the day having 400+ AEG unloading full auto style shots on me all called it a day and went home.
What are the limits in the Uk for Three round burst?
Thanks for your comments in advance

Re: FPS limits for three round burst.
Most sites have the same limits for 3rd burst as full auto, 350 fps

Re: FPS limits for three round burst.
Depends on the site, some keep to the same limit as any AEG, others will allow 'DMR' limits, usually around the 420-450 fps area, but it MUST be single shot only

Re: FPS limits for three round burst.
Legally, in the UK a three round burst would be limited to 1.3J. However, sites run at a lower power output, but it would usually be their full auto limit.
Legally, bolt action and semi-locked weapons are limited to 2.5J.

Re: FPS limits for three round burst.
In my opinion i would class a three round burst as full auto
There is a big clue when people say
Full auto limits and SINGLE SHOT limits, big clue there, i was always under the impression that single means one lol

But it's still only one cycle of the firing mechanism, not multiple rapid cycles. It's not about the number of projectiles fired per cycle, I guess if some one wants to make a grenade launcher (which in the most part is just volley gun/overgrown shotgun in airsoft terms) that fires multipe bb's at 2.5j then it would still be legal.
The bill states successively, ie one after another not all in one go.
The permitted kinetic energy level is—
(a) in the case of a weapon which is capable of discharging two or
more missiles successively without repeated pressure on the
trigger, 1.3 joules;
(b) in any other case, 2.5 joules.”
Let's try not to make them interpretate it as X joules divided by number of missiles per shot(total weight of shot) so 3 .2g bbs = 0.6g @ 2.5j would mean you'd be reduced to about 300fps.
