Painting on plastic, preperation needed?
18 August, 2010, 19:37
I want to paint over my gun (reciever is plastic), havn't decided on what scheme to go with yet. Before i do anything should i prime the surface of the gun or will it be ok to just spray on top of it?
Cheers

Re: Painting on plastic, preperation needed?
on my l96 i sanded mine down using 400 grit up to 100 grit.
then applied a spray plastic primer, sanded that lightly with 1000 grit and then painted with krylon until i got the desired finsih.
works great but i have not lackered mine so if u knock it about the paints going to show some signs of wear

I assume it's not painted plastic, but injection moulded?
If it is, you can get spray that bonds with the plastic so you won't need to do any prep.
All you really need to do is give it a good clean, get rid of any dust, grime and moisture
