TM TYPE 89 yes or no
13 May, 2009, 21:18
Was going to order a new gun tonight but I can't decide, really like the tm type 89.
Just wanted to know if it's worth the money and has anyone had any experience with the gun.

Re: TM TYPE 89 yes or no
I know a guy who ahd one and it fell apart in a week, I believe he got it fixed and its been grand ever since. Honestly i think it would be a good gun to go for as although his broke its probably an isolated case and he claims the gun to be excellent.
Sorry if that was no use to you, just my tupence.

Re: TM TYPE 89 yes or no
Hi Jimbo,
I have one of these and I love it, gun feels very solid, full metal and has a lovley sound when fired very satisfying.
The 3 round burst has been reliable and has never let me down.
Although there is specific 89 Mags it will quite happly take any m4 / m16 mags and have no feeding issues not that I have experienced.
The only thing I can think of that my be a draw back is the selector switch as iit is on the right hand side of the reciever, not a problem if you left handed however for a £5 from zero one you can by the optional left had side slector switch.
I have never tried to remove the flashhider and havent really want to put a silencer on it as its long enough without one.
Hope this helps

Brilliant rifles. I have put a silencer on mine without an adaptor. 3 round burst is great as well. Go for it.

Re: TM TYPE 89 yes or no
Do these rifles follow the armalite design of having to detach the motor in the pistol grip before taking the gearbox out or is the gearbox and motor a one piece deal ?

The gearbox and motor are separate pieces

Re: TM TYPE 89 yes or no
Not always, in the G36c the motor is held on to the gearbox by a small cage and it all comes out as one.
It does follow the armalite design, the motor is not attached to it.

I was answering the question, not making a general statement about airsoft weapons...

Re: TM TYPE 89 yes or no
yea that was sort of what i was asking as i know that you have to faff around with armalite pistol grip and such to put together/take apart the gearbox/motor, which is why i like the g36 series as it all comes out together.

They are a bit creaky, but very reliable good guns otherwise.

Re: TM TYPE 89 yes or no
The creaking occurs in the fore grip after lots of use, it is very easily fixed. Aside from that it is an absolutely solid rifle, the metal receivers are very thick and it has a one piece steel spine that runs from the top front of the gearbox all the way into the stock.
The 3rd burst is very nice also, it has been flawless all except for maybe once when it became stuck and continuously fired, but as it was new i could put it down to the lube bedding in. My only complaint is that it isn't as efficient as the normal v2, but the strength of the springs in the 3 stage cutoff assembly would probably explain that, i would recommend taking at least one spare stick battery (the stock can store a spare).
