  • dmr- help needed to make a decision

hey, i'm currently in the process of selling my m4 and my m16 to fund a new dmr.

the three choices i've been thinking of at the moment are:
    ca g3 sg-1
    vfc scar h ssr
    ics lsw

price wise i'll be looking at around £400ish

looks wise i prefer the scar as it's rather unique and not something you see everyday, but it's the most expensive of the lot and i'd have to buy new mags on top as well as a bipod and telescopic scope and i'd be limited to smaller batteries
the g3 is another option and is the cheapest as well as being able to take the batteries i already have but again mags are an added expense
both of the above would also require new mag pouches for my plate carrier
the lsw is the middle ground option at the moment, it comes with two magazines, my
current primary is also a stanag weapon so mags aren't an issue, the only downsides are it requires new batteries and my current primary is an l85 so it's rather similar :p

so basically i need help making a decision, any other suggestions are welcome but bear in mind i want something different from your standard assault rifle

the lsw would come under an aeg and be limited in fps but i think you can get around this by putting a screw in the selector plate. also look for upgrades and replacement parts that are well stocked. this is justa little help in your choice

Re: dmr- help needed to make a decision

i'm not looking to lock it to semi or up the fps, i intend to keep it as an aeg at 350fps as i'll need auto and no min engagement rule to protect my sniper

i'm more after the dmr look to be honest lol

      thanks anyway though

Well with the scar you're going to be unique! (Like you are already! Hehe)

Re: dmr- help needed to make a decision

Must say a Scar or an L86 are rather unusual for a dmr choice! (or at least I havent seen any before).

I would actually say the scar....would be interested to see one. Beware though the stocks can break quite easily :S.

Or may I suggest a simple M14? I know lots of people do have them but theres a reason...they make excellent Dmrs. And the GBB ones come/coming out!

Re: dmr- help needed to make a decision

sorry but if your not locking it to single and going for 425fps then its not a DMR, its an aeg with a scope.

Re: dmr- help needed to make a decision

'dmr look' by this i mean something used as a dmr in it's real world function
the scar h ssr 'sniper support rifle' is a dmr
and the lsw was used as a dmr before the sharpshooter was introduced and is still used in that role due to its ineffectiveness as a support weapon when compared to the l110

                cheers for your helpfull post

had one, didnt get on with it,

landwarrior are out of stock i'm seeing if i can justify the cost of extra mags batteries, the bipod scope and silencer, at the moment i'm leaning toards the lsw with an acog on a cantilever mount

I still support the M14 for any DMR role, for the price you will spend on a SCAR, you can get a TM M14 which will take a large type battery, excellent range out the box (no need for upgrades save maybe a TB) and because of its popularity (everyone either has one or wants one) you can sell it if you dont like it

If you're just after the look and want something different, then yeah, go for the SCAR
