Yet ANOTHER Lipo question needs answer...
24 September, 2010, 19:51
Hi there,
I was reading up on lipos last night and found a really good link on here, but now I can't find it so if anyone has it please link me it. :D
Also, I'm looking at getting a Lipo for a PEQ 15, but all I can get atm is the Kong power ones, which the one I've found has a 15C thing.... don't know what C stands for but do have an idea what it is after reading last night. So my question is, will a 15C Lipo be OK for an ICS M4? I don't particularly want a 11.1 but if I have to I will, will this shred my Gearbox?
Also, why do they have 2 cables leading out ? I presume for the alarm?
Cheers.

Re: Yet ANOTHER Lipo question needs answer...
The short cable is for charging and/or an alarm. 15C is fine if you use semi and don't spam the trigger loads. If you gearbox is set up right it should take a 11.1 but there will be alot of over spin.

Re: Yet ANOTHER Lipo question needs answer...
Short multicoloured cable is for balancing, alarms, voltage metres etcetera.
Montesa - using semi automatic actually draws more current from the motor; my personal opinion with Lipo's is not to buy anything less than 20C. Ideally, you should want 25C+ @ 7.4v and 20C+ @ 11.1v.
Please get in touch if you want general help. Please report problematic posts.

Re: Yet ANOTHER Lipo question needs answer...
C is a multiplier
a 2000mah 10C battery has the same power as a 1000mah 20C or a 500mah 40C
You need 30+ amps continuous really so a 2000mah 15C is fine (30amps).
C is how many times its capacity it will run at in amps.

15C means nothing without knowing the capacity in mah?

I have an ICS and I would say they would take a 11.1. It will fail quicker but then it's running faster. The trigger contacts will take a kicking at 11.1v with a high discharge (mah x C) lipo.

The small one is the balance lead. Used to balance the cells (Lipo cells need to be within 0.1v of each other min).
Also attach alarms to it when not charging.

Re: Yet ANOTHER Lipo question needs answer...
The Mah is 1100, its the Kong power PEQ15 one....
Also, does anyone know if I can get a Battery in the stock tube of the ICS with the weid screw system it has. Failing that, any other stock tubes to fit an ICS...?
Sorry, the PEQ one is 22C which I assume is 24 amps and fine?
But I am also interested in whether 15C is good or not. cheers.

24amps yes. Lower than I would be happy with but ok unless you hold the trigger down for long periods (Spray and Pray)

How long is a good piece of sting?
Honestly same kind of question.
800mah 15C = BAD (12amps)
2000mah 15C = GOOD (30amps)
5000mah 15C = LOADS OF AMPS (75amps)
All 15C
Power(amps) = MAH(capacity) x C(multiplier)
Most motors draw between 15-30amps
