PKM
26 September, 2010, 16:52
Does someone want to make me one?
I have a broken RPK, would it be at all possible to somehow use the parts from that as a base for a PKM? Without having to custom machine EVERYTHING. I'm aware that the ejection port and stuff are different, all that stuff wouldn't need to actually work!
So yeah, anyone up for trying this as a project? (I'm no DIYer). And how much should it cost?
Haven't seen Candyman around on here for ages, otherwise I'd probably PM him, but I know he's expensive too!

Re: PKM
Yeah, but I'm imagining, because the RPK receiver seems thinner, bolt some nice, machined PKM-look sheets of metal over the top of the original.

Re: PKM
Doesnt have to feed from the side, as long as the fake round go in from the side. You could quite easily slot in some sort of box mag to the custom PKM mag shell and attach the top part of an AK mag to make it feed where the RPK would feed.
Then you just have the fake rounds going in at the side. Battery I was thinking, if you made some way of levering the top receiver (with all PKM parts bolted to it) up, then a stick battery could go in the normal AK position. Or make space within the box mag and wire it up somehow

I guess it would be annoying to know that the only company that "ever" made these, stopped 2 years ago :P
Cheers.

It would be easier, as well as being rather illegal too

Yes, it would. It's illegal to modify a deact to fire ANYTHING

Depends how much of the gun you use. Or example if you want to make a Arisoft SMLE it is fine to buy a real stock and fit a VSR workings into it.
All you need to do is find the parts separately and it is fine, the problem occurs when you have a complete de-ac you try and convert. As far as I know if you were to use the barrel and stock and custom make the body you would be fine.

Re: PKM
You can buy certain parts yes, but simply buying a deact and fitting airsoft internals is illegal
