G+G GR16 (m4a1) upgrade options

I have just purchesed the G+G m4 electric blowback and wondering what the upgrade options are

ie

Is it a standard m4 type gearbox
are body parts "tm compatible" ie metal body, front ends, stocks etc

Thanks alot for any help[

YES to everything apart from the Upper Reciever is compatible, due to the blowback unit, if you took out and replaced the GB it would be fully compatible

No, no, Yes for the rest. The gearbox has extra gubbins on the outside for blowback. The only metal body that fit's is the G&G metal body for blowback series. And good luck finding one of those. Stocks and grips are all standard though

cheers guys, means can leave trhe body as it is solid, what about the actual gearbox, if anything goes wrong ie piston stripping, gears etc can they be done

Think(don't quote me on this) but its every thing but the cylinder that is the same.

the gear box is tm compatible mate internal wise,

the cylinder is NOT , it has a hole to allow the air into the blowback unit,
so polish the inside of it ,

the upper reciever are only G+G compatible or metal recievers from Top Tech are out, but very rare and expensive,

the gearbox shells are 8mm bearings mate, but you can not change the shells and use the blowback, due to the feature of the blowback piston and the forward assist spring release

but the internal wise can be upgraded as i have done mine and it is very nice Rof

it actually comes with some nice stuff stock, steel high speed gears, high speed motor, decent hopup.

You should get a better barrel though, new shims, and maybe a new spring, the fps can be a bit on the low side. with the spring, maybe a new spring guide (the stock one is steel, but has no bearing)
an essential upgrade, is a new piston head (or just the O ring) as compression is non existant. the only parts you will run in to trouble with really, is the receiver, and the cylinder, as they are all custom made for the blowback.

the gearbox shell itself is pretty good, reinforced, so that should be fine.
though the wiring is VERY poor, resolder it all, mine came undone.
also, get a 20a fuse, the stock one aint all that great...

Contrary to what evilllamas said about changing the barrel, you won't need to as G&G's have 6.03mm tight bores in all their guns as standard. Just give it a good clean.

the one that comes with the gr16 blowback is not great, its aluminum, as oposed to brass or steel, and since the other parts are good quality, you may aswell slam a good one in, as it will improve acuracy, which is the most important thing, since the RoF is already great.

meh, I have one of these guns, and the acuracy isnt amazing. maybe its just not very well cut...
get a prometheus 6.03, they are great.

The gr-16 has a brass barrel stock coated with Ali to make it strong but it is a brass barrel but they are a good tb barrel fro
stock at 6.03mm

Madbulls are moulded Ali running the entire spread of the barrel inside and out
making it ultra light but perfectly formed for perfection lol
