'Graveyard' Guns
1 June, 2009, 19:28
So most of you will know of the American retailer that has a section of these 'graveyard' guns, where broken guns are sold off (as seen) very cheaply. So I was thinking that i just haven't seen a similar sort of thing on any U.K retailers.
And i wondered why this was? and thought that it would be a very good idea. As i would love the opportunity to pick up really cheap guns for spare parts and a bit of practice.
Now I can see a few reason why they don't ie. that most guns can be fixed by the retailer and that retailers don't probably have lots of broken guns hanging about that they need to shift.
But it occurred to me that the aforementioned US site also have technicians there and that the same would apply for them. So obviously there is a reason for having them.
So the big question is, why don't we see them? and don't you think they would be a great idea?
I certainly would like to see them???

Re: 'Graveyard' Guns
We can't really answer that for you
Try asking the retailers. Maybe it could catch on.

Re: 'Graveyard' Guns
would be a good i dea but im gussing that if a retailer can fix it cheaply and sell it for more then why sell a gun for cheap that can be fixed for cheap.

Re: 'Graveyard' Guns
i imagine the specific retailer is probabaly either tightly nit with the community, and close with their customers and understands how much of a good idea it is
or the fact these retailers probs take them for pretty much nothing in p/ex which encourages sales of their aegs.. and it just doesnt warrant paying to fix them becuase they wouldnt gain much profit from it.. they probabaly get aeg's cheaper than they do replacement parts

Re: 'Graveyard' Guns
Yeh exactly, i suppose retailers come accross them quite a lot.
Ie.
-Ones they test on and just give up and die.
-Ones that are damaged in transit.
-Part-exchanges.
Then they just flog them off online.
With trading standards these days any item that has even been slightly damaged from the long haul from the east surely can't be sold new online, so they must get lots.
Or do they just store them and use them for spare parts in repairs maybe?
there must be other reasons also.

Re: 'Graveyard' Guns
Youd need to be careful with a "graveyard" scheme like that, people could easily buy several different parts and manufacture a RIF very easily

Re: 'Graveyard' Guns
Indeed but that is absolutely possible anyway with the new parts.
I would expect, as most seem to be pretty much whole guns that you would need a defence anyway.

Re: 'Graveyard' Guns
Well overall i think ti would be an excellent scheme to bring into play in UK retailers, there is a retailer in NI who buys 2nd hand guns-I believe they can be in virtually any condition
