Re: starting a batteries life
Leave it on trickle (130mA) i.e.
don't
hit the fast charge button.
Will take approx 36hrs with that capacity from empty. 9hrs on a 500mA fast charge.
I'd probably just go for the latter as the cap of this one can handle that and the charger will cut out and revert to trickle with an alarm when it's done.
Every now and again, just discharge fully and slow charge again.

Re: starting a batteries life
aye the best thing to do would be to relatively slow charge it,my charger is a 500&1000Mah jobby so when i get a new batt i just set it to 500 and charge/discharge it a few times(like 5) then after that i just use & fast charge as normal.
the battery will probably have a charge in it so i would reccomend that you 'top it up' first then discharge it/charge it a few times.
this sort of thing is typically called battery exercising, its pretty important if youwant to get the most out of their lives, and as said before every so often, fully discharge&charge slowly.
i jst got a new 4600 9.6 Vlt battery and thats how ive treated it (takes a few days though)
back in the game after 12 months away!

fully discharge&charge slowly.
I must have said this in at least three different topics before now... NIMH do
not
like being discharged like this. Running a battery right down is not healthy. This is why NIMH batteries always have some charge when you buy them. Typically about 10% charge is retained when manufactured deliberately to extend shelf life. The correct thing to do is to trickle charge as describe above. After the first time, it is ok to fast charge.
NICD on the other hand
must
be discharged fully before being charged, because they have a memory effect that causes their maximum capacity to move closer to whatever the charge was when charging began.
LiPols are a completely different kettle of fish when it comes to how you need to treat them, so search for a relevant topic for more information. These must never be run right down either.
