Parcel being held :(
7 March, 2011, 10:26
Hi all, had a RIF posted from guernsey and just tracked it today to find its being held in leeds depot awaiting payment of charges... i don't understand though as on the tracking list its happened in a previous depot for same reason but the next day it went to another depot:
Date Time Location Tracking Event
07-03-2011 01:15 Leeds Depot Awaiting payment of charges
04-03-2011 11:47 National Hub Received and processed
04-03-2011 03:33 International Hub Received from Customs - charges to be paid
04-03-2011 03:30 International Hub Forwarded for UK processing
02-03-2011 12:19 International Hub Awaiting Customs clearance
02-03-2011 12:17 International Hub Received in destination country
What should i do and how long do i have before it goes back to the previous address?
I tried calling royal mail and they just cut me off

Re: Parcel being held
Is it not parcel force?
Ring the number on the website and when it gives you the option to press 1-5 press 6 and talk to someone about it, i did that and got my parcel before i got the letter about how to pay the customs chargers probalby VAT.
Also theres about 50 other topics on this
Bust a move.

Re: Parcel being held
Nah it says theres charges to be paid from customs
04-03-2011 03:33 International Hub Received from Customs - charges to be paid
So will be VAT and most probably the holding fee
Bust a move.

Re: Parcel being held
No sender doesnt pay fees you have to. Thats standard procedure. They will send a letter to confirm the details with a long reference number that you quote when you ring up.
You can ring I can't remeber which numbers to push, but if you are worried you can wait to speek to someone.

Re: Parcel being held
the fee's are the importing cost of the parcel ( depending what rate they charged it as )
also the VAT of the item for being in the uk
so 20% of the items rrp,
then the import will be about 4% max
then the 13.50 they will include into the price,
call them up and you can pay earlier if you have the tracking number handy and the REAL calculated price

Re: Parcel being held
I paid today and the parcel is in leeds, which is about a 40 minute drive from my address its going to so kinda is doable.
I can't get to leeds to pick it up though otherwise i would have gone straight there and paid in person
