FN SCAR
18 January, 2009, 00:17
Hey everyone, I know this thread has probably been made before.
But I am soon looking to buy a SCAR, but I'm wondering on what manufacture to go by.
AGM, DBoys or JLS?
I'm not 100% on which manufactures to go by, because I've mainly heard most good reviews for Jing Gong, in which my MP5 is reliable by JG.
Any input would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
Andy.

Re: FN SCAR
Evening mate,
If you really do want a scar id highly recommend you get the vfc scar
as it is the best scar replica made in my opinion
As vfc have put alot of time and research into this aeg and is piratically like the r/s version as it weights just 60 grams lighter, is the same length and field strips just like the r/s.
If you can only afford the cheapsoft scar do not touch the jls one as it is terrible and is a waste of money as you will have to spend abit to get it up to a descent level.
Best cheapsoft one ive seen and used has to be the dboys one *runs for cover waiting for flak now* as they seem to have a nice range and rof
If you need any more info feel free to drop me a pm or get in touch with couger-w
This is my vfc scar l at the moment

Re: FN SCAR
Probably not applicable since you're looking at the cheaper end of the market, but I love my G&G. Finish and all the jazz is great (no trades though, sadly), and this thing is the best shooting gun I've ever owned, bar none. Shoots absolutely true every time, and the compression in the gearbox is terrifyingly good.
VFC has an equally good rep (minus some minor internal issues that may have been fixed by now), so either that or the G&G are the best shooters and best externally.
On the cheaper end, I hear good things about the D-Boys though.
Get away from her you BITCH!

Re: FN SCAR
The minor internal problems with the vfc scar was just with the first gen batch and mine is one of them.
Luckily got it all sorted before anything bad happened to it

Re: FN SCAR
Well, firstly - thanks for everyones input.
The reason as to why I listed AGM, DBoys and JLS - as they were the main 3 I found on one specific site. I looked elsewhere, and my options have opened wider.
I think I'll be mainly looking at G&G and VFC I think!
And I must say, metalboa.. thats a nice looking scar
And again, metalboa - you said about minor internal problems with the VFC?.. what problems did you encounter may I ask?
Thanks, Andy.

Re: FN SCAR
i have a JLS and at the start when it was stock it was rubbish, but now i have upgraded it it is awsume, the only bad thing i would say is that the front end i much much heavier than the back, so you cant really add much too the front.
I have just been reading reviews on the DBOY and the AGM and have found that most people said dont get the DBOY, the internal are rubbish and are likely to brake, however the AGM one that has just come outlooks more realistic to the attual SCAR compared to the JLS and has really good internal. so i would say either get the AGM or JLS but remember you will need to upgrade the JLS if you do choose that make.

Glad you like it mate
The problem that me and my mate had with ours was that the cut off lever was to short which caused the gun to lock up on full auto which could only be stopped by disconnecting the battery
But its all been fixed now as vfc sent out new longer cut off levers and this fault as I said was only with their first gen batch of scars as the second gen and onwards had this problem fixed as soon as it was discovered.
Also as my problem has been noted by vfc if anything else goes wrong with the gun I just report it to them and they send out the replacement parts for free :D

Re: FN SCAR
VFC
The chinese ones are ok. Sure they will shoot BB's, but for how long? I'd rather buy once and have a reliable gun with spares that are super easy to get than buying a cheap gun that will probably break after a couple of thousand rounds.
The VFC is the closest replica as well. With pretty much identical colour and take down its the best to do with. I have heard the JLS has a shoddy FDE finish. The VFC also comes with the CQB and Standard inner barrel so you can change the format of the gun and still have maximum inner barrel length for each format. Unlike the other copies which either dont supply it or like most Chinese ones have a little screw on outer barrel to simulate it. Which is utterly pointless if you want the Standard length.
Now its time for some porn

Re: FN SCAR
Never underestimate the G&G either, though
Externally about on a par with the VFC (bar the trademarks), and an absolutely cracking shooter. My G&G fires better than the VFC I held a few months ago, I'd say without a doubt.
Not really 'porn', but pics of mine:
Much like the real SCAR, the upper receiver goes from a sort of pale OD to bright frickin' gold depending on the lighting. I have photos of the real thing that a friend took which make it look even worse than this. Weird. The G&G has a nice finish when seen in person, though.
Looks a bit plain the pics above as well, but I have some stuff for the front end on its way, and I'll be splashing out on optics before my next game (as soon as I can decide what to roll with). The CQC 10.5" barrel is extra, as is the supressor.
But yeah. G&G is highly recommended (along with the VFC).
Get away from her you BITCH!

Only thing needed to finish off any vfc, g&g and agm is the eglm :D
