Blue paint/marker pen/...stuff on guns?

Hey guys, this has been annoying me mildly for a while so figured i'd whack up a post...

I've seen numerous pics over the years of various realsteel rifles with blue numbers on them. Now as much as i gather these are some form of cataloguing identification for whichever armoury, what exactly is it the numbers are put on with, and why do only some rifles seem to have them?

It is to identify which armory it came from. No idea why only some have it or what they use, I would guess it's paint or some sort of permanent marker.

blue? thats new on me, i mostly see white im guessing from a tipex pen =/

i've seen yellow, blue, red & white numbers in paint and even numbered labels stuck on them. i know from my army cadet time that it was so you can tell the rifles from one another such as 'numbers 15 to 34 have been lent out to so and so squad' also you could always know your rifle as it was your rifle to look after and clean for 3 days, so my rifle is number 27 so no one else can pick it up and say its theirs

If your going for an authentic Armed forces loadout then yes..

Suppose, ive seen worse, like cyalumes strapped to stocks and stuff. then again airsoft is 90% looks.
