Paypal closed my account!

dont know if anyone is aware of this but recieving funds for the sale of airsoft GUNS AND ACCESORIES is a violation of terms of the paypal contract and your account can be shut down without further notice??? i had to sign a waiver stateing i understand this and further transactions will result in permanent closure of my account!! so a warning out to everyone about using paypal for airsoft sales

Yeah I vaguely remember this happening to me a couple of years ago, I had to go through loads of crap with them to reopen it.

This is interesting. Their T&Cs when you sign up only state it's against their policies to use PP for transactions involving real guns/ gun parts along with everything else. Replicas get no mention, nore to BB guns etc.

So to have them turn around and say stop it, its against our rules... well, its not.

Have you seen these terms? It does state firearms are agianst their acceptable use policy but then we don't use firearms when airsofting

I think mistakes come from when people put things like

"Hi, here's the £250 for the Magpul M4"

or something similar

That's actually wrong, I think they might have mistaken what you were selling for real gun parts. PayPal's policy is:

What types of firearms related items does PayPal prohibit?
PayPal prohibits all account holders from buying or selling any type of firearm and certain firearm parts and ammunition.

Firearms – Include all rifles, shotguns and handguns, whether they are intended for use in sporting, as collectibles, or as curio and relic firearms. These items are prohibited regardless of their present working order.

Firearm parts - Include, but are not limited to, receivers and frames, silencers, kits designed to convert a firearm to automatic firing capability, high capacity magazines, multi-burst trigger activators, and camouflaging firearm containers.

Ammunition - Includes ammunition with propellant, such as gunpowder or blank ammunition. Ammunition is defined as ammunition or cartridge cases, primers, bullets or propellant powder designed for any firearm.

Stun guns - For US residents, PayPal allows transactions for stun guns only if the transaction is permitted by law in both the buyer's and seller's jurisdictions. US sellers must ensure that each transaction is legal in both locations before completing the sale. Transactions for stun guns involving account holders outside the US are prohibited.

Other Related Items – PayPal allows transactions for paintball guns, blank guns and air-soft guns as permitted by law in the applicable jurisdiction. These items must display all markings required by law, must not be convertible to shoot a lethal projectile, and must not include blank ammunition.

*see the last part. Which explains why almost every airsoft retailer allows PayPal as a means of payment.

A good few airsoft retailers, especially the ones over seas use PayPal as their main payment method

ive filled a complaint and said their user policy states firearms and that a
airsoft guns arnt legally classed as firearms and are legal in the uk. just waiting to hear back.

Why I include my UKARA number when paying for a RIF by Paypal in the payment comments. Covers myself and the seller for the "applicable jurisdiction" part, in case Paypal decided to get snotty and question their right to legally sell.

I have used Paypal on numerous occassions to pay for airsoft gear, including guns ans pistols. i have never had a problem?

or another way would be to just put in the comments box somthing like "for goods as aggreed via zeroin" then thay dont realy know whats going on. i have abought many airguns and airsoft kit via paypal with out issue.

yesah im not blaming the guy who bought from me at all but in the comments box it sad thompson anmd drum magazine nothing about airsoft. When airsoft contacted me they specifically said airsoft stuff and they had been monitoring the sites i sell on???????

You dont really need to be making excuses because the fact of the matter is, it dosen't matter that airsoft guns are not firearms. Their terms of use literally and speficially state that (as Blackjack13 kindly quoted above):

So... unless you've actually bought/sold firearms or firearm parts, or more likely blank rounds then you're good.

I would have thought it was fairly obvious the people at paypal were doing some spot checks and whatever you may have included along with the transaction aroused suspicion... No real biggie?
