Too many polls?

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm fed up with the number of polls being posted. If you want a new gun, just decide what you want, don't put up a poll and ask what other people think!

OK, I recognise the irony of a poll about the number of polls, but I thought it might emphasise the problem as well as (perhaps) getting some form of agreement about this.

I vote 'other', as I can see your viewpoint exactly. There can ocassionally be something of a proliferation of polls, for what would appear a simple decision, i.e: "What gun amma gunna get?"

I feel though, that members should be allowed to poll for certain things, to gauge peole's opinions on an as yet, undecided choice they may have.

I vote `It's OK`. Only because other people still vote on them, whereas I can just ignore the bloody things. (Or if I really feel the need, I can slate the OP for being a sheepy personality vacuum)

I have decided to ignore this poll, because polls bug me.

Nah, I makey a joke - I went for door number 3. Most polls don't bother me and I may even have a try, but we do get an awful lot of people who want to know what their peers want them to do. They clutter the forum and should be deleted. A lot of them don't even get their guns or gun categories right - or they've already made their little minds up.

I say we ban everyone on the forum. EVERYONE!

I Put other as I don't mind polls the thing I don't like is when people post on the poll and it bumps the thread to the top, is it possible to stop that happening? and just have comments that bump the threads.

I hate 'em. I absolutely bloody hate them! I even hate this one, but I voted anyway. LOL.

There are too many of them, most of them are pointless. The ones that present a modicum of usefulness get swamped into oblivion (AKA 4 pages back) by the "which gun am best 4 teh two tonez plz kthnksbai" threads. This is only exacerbated by the fact that polls get bumped back to the top when a new person votes.

All that said, I took to just ignoring them all out of principle, long ago [but this one suckered me]! A forum this size will always attract a whole lot of crap. I used to moderate a gaming clan forum with well over 2000+ members. It was fun, sometimes, and the rest of the time was spent splitting tangented threads, mediating petty squabbles, and generally playing "mummy". I empathise wholly with the moderators who have to wade through tons of crap posts to keep the server from cracking under the pressure of the spam!

Basically, I'd be happy to see them go, or at least, restricted in some manner.

This! I'd certainly like to see them expire, especially the "what am best gun" threads as these tend to get voted on (bumped) months or even years after they were created. Seriously, if you haven't decided on what gun to buy in the last 12 months, a pointless poll isn't going to help you

Whilst I dislike and ignore the x vs x polls , I genuinely am interested in a poll when something's heated with yes and no flying around it can keep it clear and concise without having to read 8 pages to get an idea.
