I use inliners rollerblading kneepads. cost about £1 on ebay and are hard as nails.

Dent - I've been thinking about them too, also thinking about sewing on a pocket on the inside of all my trousers and using plumbing knee pads!

This is the way ahead. I had some great walking trousers with double material knees, i opened them into a pouch and put some Dickies workwear pads in them, with a velcro closure. Were absolutely awesome and was an easy modification to make.
That said i have now replaced them with a Pair of OPS DA pants with the built in Crye style kneepads and they are the shizzle!
