Importing query
29 July, 2009, 23:43
Ok so I'm currently importing a rifle..
And looking at the tracker it seems that I've managed to avoid the usual sending of the letter asking for double confirmation of UKARA, meaning hte company put it on the outside of the box for once!

Does it look like im in there clear or could I be wrong?
Cant wait for customs charges on a 200 pound package!

Re: Importing query
I joined this forum just to say...I win! My gun has been with customs since 5th July...
From ordering online, from a California-based supplier, to it arriving at Coventry customs took 3 days. Since then it's been in the care of customs officer Frank Spencer
...and it's not even a RIF.
grumble, grumble

Re: Importing query
I recently had a parcel released that was in for about a month and a half, just be polite and answer any questions and you should be ok.
Mine contained several rifs though, £1400 worth of questionable material, understandable really.

You're probably pointing and laughing at me at this point, but I just wanted something for plinking, that looked vaguely rifle-like, and was cheap.
And I wanted a transparent plastic gun instead of one of the bright painted rifles (either makes the gun "non-realistic"), even though it's more toy-like.

Re: Importing query
its still an imitation firearm on the scans - and can easily be made realistic enough with some black paint or tape over the transparent part
customs are strange people

Re: Importing query
Just to let you guys know, my rifles arrived about a week ago.
So that's just over 2 months in customs.
Two things to note:
1. I had to submit a letter, with my VCRA defence (in this case: the rifles are not RIF). It had been my understanding that it is legal to *buy* RIFs without a licence, just not legal to *sell* to someone without a licence.
I'm glad I didn't test this by importing RIFs.
2. The site I bought from was a goodie. They shipped the items within a couple of days, and they included a couple of bags of BBs for free, which weren't even mentioned in the order.
