Has anyone used the Ares G36E?
3 August, 2009, 21:46
I was going to get the JG version of this, but then I saw the Ares on Z1 at £190.
It looks like a full copy of the CA, complete with the quick change spring and 3x/red dot optics carrying handle. I know the eye relief on the built in optics is c***, but I like the realism.
My only issue is the quality, as I've never had anything to do with them.
Also, do you think they would take one to the on-site shop at the weekender for me to try?

It's Ares. So exactly the same as the Star G36. Internals are not that great. The materials for the body are nice, but the build quality is still somewhat dubious. The optics are utter parp, in my experience.

What needs work with the internals? And, would a CA box fit?
The optics don't bother me at all, as I say, I'm more interested in the fact they look the same as the RS. After all, if you need a scope in airsoft, chances are you're out of range anyway.

The JG works well, but I'd go for the Ares myself, money not being an object and all. The gearbox can be replaced and upgraded the same as any other V3 box. I wouldn't put a CA box in, just replace stuff as it breaks. It'll be fine for a fair while at least. Just don't expect wonders if you drop in a massive battery or spring and nothing else. Run it normally, it should be ok.

Yes. And the JG has better innards, but the Ares has better externals. Externals generally aren't as easy to come by. So Ares is the wise choice I think.

Re: Has anyone used the Ares G36E?
That was basically my thinking too. I've read that the Ares and CA both use the same material for the body as the real thing, where JG have just used their normal plastic.
Thanks for the input guys!
