To snipe or not to snipe?
10 August, 2009, 22:50
Just want a bit of honest, considered, and experienced opinion please...
I love AEGs, but I keep toying with the idea of a sniper rifle project – you know, buy a VSR, upgrade it to about 500fps, keep tinkering.
The thing is, it's a fair old investment, and while I like the idea of the sniper style of play, I really would want a noticeable improvement in range over my unmodified, but very well firing AK74MN.
So... do sniper rifles
really
give you a much better range, or do most of you who use them, simply prefer that style of play?

Re: To snipe or not to snipe?
I'd suggest borrowing one and trying it if at all possible. If you do decide it's for you, you could always pick something up second hand. There's always a few decent ones about after the kids find that it isn't like COD4 or CS

Re: To snipe or not to snipe?
Fortunately, my mate is letting me have a go on Wednesday night. I know what you mean with the CoD stuff – would be great if the VSR had a range ten times that of an AEG, but I guess little balls of plastic just don't have the aerodynamic ability!
Just trying to get a feel of everyone's opinon –*you know what it's like... once you get an idea in your head, you want to spend some cash!

Re: To snipe or not to snipe?
It would be better if you could get a skirmish or two under your belt with it though. Range is better, but not as much as some people imagine. You do have to pick your targets more cleverly, some times letting people go (but reporting their movements to your team
) A good sniper isn't a lone warrior as some people think, they have to be the ultimate team player IMO
