How to increase range.
31 January, 2009, 23:06
Ive recently bought a warrior l96, and im trying my hardest to make it shoot further.
Anyone with a little knowledge on what upgrades/ tweaks and ammo i should use to shoot further?
thanks.

Re: How to increase range.
The basics:
set your hop right. Ideally it should arc up and then drop but not leaving the rough confines of your sight picture. IE at 40m its central in the scope, at 50m its high in the scope, 55 at the top, 60 central.
Shoot the heaviest ammo that you can effectively hop. Normally I'd suggest about .36g. Dont use teflon ammo. Does nasty nasty things to hop rubbers.
Put a decent barrel in it. Not necessarily super tight (prom. 6.03 are highly recommended) and keep it clean. Decent means straight and consistent, not super tight but cheaply made.
/9 out.

Try and get a hard hop rubber, i think you can get them for the L96?!
And as above, a tight barrel with do wonders
You can also aim slightly up...that always helps!

Believe it or not using the mil-dots on the scope does work on a airsoft sniper but tone it down abit from 50 meters to something like 5

Tight bore barrel and a upgrade Hop unit or rubber.

Re: How to increase range.
Move closer to your target and practice your field skills.
Shots that go further are always going to be put off by wind and variables eventually, try making the shots from a bit closer instead of trying to increase range, saves cash and makes you a better airsoft sniper.
But if you do have to increase the range then try as others have said a similar length barrel and a harder hop rubber.

Re: How to increase range.
Speaking of hard hop buckings, what would you guys recommend for a 465 FPS (on .20g's) PSG-1? I ONLY use .30g's in mine and it fires at 405 FPS with those.
I need a brand and a place to order one from. Could someone please PM me with a link or something?

Re: How to increase range.
.30g's are fine for your PSG-1 Billy... It's semi-auto so you can get off a quick follow up shot as well.
There are loads of .30g's available, I'd suggest "KSC Perfects", do a little google search and you should be fine finding some.

Re: How to increase range.
Oh! My bad Billy, re-reading what you said, it is quite clear you meant the bucking (just me being stupid)...
As all L96 users would agree that they probably used a Firefly Hard Bucking in there rifle if it's hitting 465fps+. So I'd say that would be a good bet (L96's use AEG Buckings).
You should be able to find on of them through a search on google as well.
Hope that helps mate...

Re: How to increase range.
Ah righty, cheers
I think I just found them. One blue and one red apparently. Here's the description:
"Fire Fly (Hop UP Packin rubber) for MZ APS-2 [Hard]
require Fire Fly APS2 Hop unit.
1 red, 1 blue"
Is that correct?
