Ares L1A1 classification
15 August, 2009, 07:52
Sorry if this is in the wrong place.
I was wondering after looking at one of these on Z1 and browsing the internet,
Would the SLR be catagorised as 'Semi-Auto' as its single shot only? ie, could I use it as the site limits are 425fps?
Or, Is it counted as full-auto AEG (as this is an available option) and I would have to get it down-graded?

Re: Ares L1A1 classification
I would say that, as a general rule, it is classed as whatever it is chrono'd as.
It may well have an option of a full auto selector, but if it's not fitted, why class it all a full auto AEG?
Do be ready to get spot checked during the day though, if the marshals know the state it was chrono'd originally in can be changed relatively easily.

Re: Ares L1A1 classification
A lot of sites limit any AEG regardless of semi/full auto to 350fps, and single shot bolt action snipers to 500fps. The key to this is not single shot but bolt action, IE the mechanism. A single shot AEG can still fire more than one round a second, in fact its limited only to how fast the GBX can cycle and how fast the shooter can pull the trigger. For that reason you may find that at single shot you would still have to
limit the gun to 350fps. Check with the site you intend to play at ...

Re: Ares L1A1 classification
if your site allows semi up to 425 then the SLR is semi auto only as there is no (factory fitted) full auto selector
however at my site due we only allow any aeg semi or not to 350 as people were taking the mickey out of the rule so it was changed
