Pistol-Carbine kits - like or loathe?
23 July, 2011, 15:21
Hiya folks, a short time lurker and airsofter here.
Our subject for today is pistol-carbine conversion kits. Recently I've seen more and more retailers are sporting these, particularly the Glock lines.
Besides the ability to attach RIS accessories, what's the point in them? I much prefer the maneuverability you get with a pistol.
So are they just gimmicks? What are your thoughts?
Classic case of overcompensation?

Personally I don't like them. I don't understand why you wouldn't just buy a rifle... OK, they can look quite awesome and you get über rep from taking a little briefcase along and opening it out into a weapon (I don't know if the FMG comes into the category?) but I think it's gimmicky. Each to their own though
I think I might have to see one in the field and have a go. Then and only then, may I change my mind!

Wouldn't have one given. I like keeping a pistol as something I can use with ease and quickly. How would you pull out one of the carbine kits in a quick draw....or even get some form of holster?
For something like the carbine kits why not just buy an SMG for a back up?

I fancy one. Not so sure I would have the Magpull one though. They are well over priced for what they are.

I love them, they look Über!
Lady Astor (first woman MP in the House of Commons): "Mr Churchill, if you were my husband, I'd put poison in your tea."
Winston (getting unsteadily to his feet): "Madam, if I were your husband ... I'd drink it."

Re: Pistol-Carbine kits - like or loathe?
I owned a kwa glock 17 with hera arms kit and was very nice. It's a lot funner to shoot than just having a pistol and look very nice. Some say they are pointless but are very useful for cqb can attach flashlights, hologrpahics and even grenade launchers.

Re: Pistol-Carbine kits - like or loathe?
Picked up a 1911 kit off here for a cheap £30.
Not yet used it properly as I haven't had the money to buy another 1911 to do up. (new hop rubber, longer tightbore etc) to make a sniperpistol type thing.
Do admit I like the handiness of having The ability to draw my pistol quicker, but at the same time it's good to have something different.
Big issue for me though is the fact I had to remove the slide safety for it to fit, and the slide release/lock is hard to press as it's so close to the body of the kit.
WANTED: Dynatec BFG.

I just don't see the point in turning a pistol into something you can effectively already buy :/
