Would I be able to...
12 August, 2011, 00:01
Hi guys, I have recently been upgrading an L96.
I need a new barrel, to use with the PDI hop-up unit.
I was wondering whether I would be able to make my own?
I have a 1000mm length of 6.01mm steel tube.
Would this work, I have access to a load of fabricating machinery where I work so if it needs holes & shizz I can do those.
Also, if this is possible could somebody show me a whole picture of the barrel and the inserts it has.
The reason I'm doing this is because I have to buy a PDI hop-up and a Zero trigger to cope with the cylinder upgrades and I don't really want to be shedding out £40 for a new barrel as well, I like to make my own stuff when I can. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.
Cheers dudes.
Regards, Josh.

Re: Would I be able to...
You could try but even if you manage to get it perfectly level, through the central point, the inside of the barrel won't be of decent quality for airsoft.
Well, that's unless you have some very precise polishing machinery..

Also the precision of the machinery is a big one, The tolerances on the PDI ones are crazy small

Most of the accuracy barrels precission is achieved through electro plating, giving that smooth polished finnish, unobtainable through normal machine process.
