Re: Rifs in public
Yeah, our guns were either in our hands or wired to the table at all times.
Youre right fizzy didnt see he said

I think he's saying that you may need police around if you're going to display it.

Re: Rifs in public
ha ha mr tom magic in a word you just got owned! ha ha nah but i see both sides here if there is any bizzies free to help out suppose makes the idea of airsoft more approachable alot of people i have talked to about 'airsoft' generally have been very anti like 'chavs with bbguns' and 'dont want to get in trouble' after constant defending and explaining the game even at times asking police to confirm the sport is legal is hard work but i can see both sides here ....all of dorset and hampshire police at ground zero to escort us safely with our guns....hmmmm now thats an idea :D

Re: Rifs in public
thinking about it, if an aru was there with thier kit i.e g36 etc... would be good to show how realistic the gun is and may give an idea of the game too

Re: Rifs in public
I know when i have done Stand around civilians with the Army and we have had weapons on show. I have never had to organise ARU escorts or a gaurd of police for my stand, but rules might be different with civies showing firearms though!

Re: Rifs in public
Let me clarify my original post, in words of as few syllables as possible.
Your local station might call you, as the ARU might want a police officer to hang around near the guns. This probably won't be an ARU member, might only be a PCSO, but they may wish to send someone along.
I don't understand why some people on this forum insist on arguing every word!!
And when I said escort, I meant someone on site, not to literally escort you to the uni.
Really, I don't get some people's need to be so pedantic.

Re: Rifs in public
I appreciate you didnt explain it correctly but you did say 'escort' which means accompanying something from A to B....
Edit: ok that did sound pedantic, sorry :p

Re: Rifs in public
Would not think the policve would send staff to 'guard' what is effectively a fair for new studants to join societies for their time at Uni.
I've worked with security at 3 freshers fairs and last year had a stand with the pub i work security at showing our AEG's and recruiting with a view to start a skirmish society.
The police were informed and at no time did they show an interest in escorting us in or out of the Uni, or having someone stood with us to make sure there was no problems. (Internal security handled that).
Tho i can only speak from experience from dealings with my local police force, whom i liase with with regards to the sport on a regular basic.

Re: Rifs in public
At the end of the day, in my area if somebody is displaying guns- real or immitation- they are required to inform the ARU. If the ARU wants an officer present it happens, or the show doesn't.
I can't talk for Jonny's local force but you will notice he states he's waiting for a call back from the firearms team.
