  • CYMA mp5's

I have a new metal + blowback CYMA MP5A5 (the J model) in transit from HK and was wondering what have peoples experiences with them been especially performance and reliability wise? After lots of research all the "reviews" tend to be crappy unboxing videos or ROF tests which dont really help that much!

never had the blowback model but the old one i had lasted upwards of 300 000 rounds and only showed minor wear.i guess the new ones are even better!

excellent, so in your opinion no need of a re-shim / AOE adjustment?

no mate,i took mine apart after all them rounds and it was very good, the only minor wear was the piston, that was after all them rounds and 18 months use, very solid in the gearbox department, built like a train in there.enjoy.:D

it was all good,a real workhorse,i just hope the new ones will be as good,i expect so,even if its not the parts are cheap, and its p155 easy to work on anyway

              Re: CYMA mp5's

I'm actually doing some work on that exact model for a friend at the moment, the J is sliding stock, right? I don't know if this one is the same generation or not, but there you go.

As ever, internally it NEEDS a (very) good clean, re-shim, AoE correction and a re-luble etc. Even the hop unit was covered in grease -_-. Wiring is same as any Marui Gun and the motor is whiny and weak. Not actually fired it yet as it came to me as a bag of bits with a stripped gearset, but I tried the motor in another gun and it really was quite bad. :p

But it's a china gun, that is to be expected. What I am very impressed with is the externals. It is solid, weighty and the bolt has a good heft to it. It feels more like a G&G than a CA, lets put it that way.

So yeah, needs a good clean and tweak internally. BUT it's a good gun after that. If you start doing speed mods to it, disable the blowback though, it will shred the piston/gears in no time. But with very little extra cost, it could be very nice indeed.

Lol. Just ask Scott ben! Or big Ash! Try both have one! With built in hop tracers as well. And not the madbull ones!

Scott will be able to give you the skinny on these

Bachelarius - Yep it's the sliding stock version, I have already got myself an EG1000 to put into it straight away as one thing that does seem consistant in the videos I have seen (just like you say) that the motor seems absolutely pants! + I was planning on doing everything you mentioned when it arrived just depends on when i get time to doing it!
Ben - Thanks will do, once i'm back in action physically i'll nip down when they're about to hear what they have to say about it

mines an absolute peach. good range, rof and accuracy. its a fair bit heavier then the ICS equivalent as well. the only problem i had was the battery's a tight fit in the hand guard because of the fuse case !
