    L85's/SA80 elcan spectres or acog's

    As the title, are the british sticking with the acogs or are they splashing more cash out on the elcan spectres??

      Last I heard they were still moving to the Elcan but who knows?

        I believe that new weapons are being issued SpecterDRs and those with the SUSAT keep them. But meh.

          yeah the people back in england do but in afghan atm soldiers are using TA31 acog's for a brief time so that they can slowly move to the spectres but not sure if there has been a deal done yet.

            The Elcan Specter are being issued to the next units of the battle group to deploy to Afghan in the next couple of months. Over 20,000 specters were ordered initialy, the plan was to replace all optics in theatre whith one type to ease supply issues. The susats and acogs would be reissued to units with optics until the specters or LDS (lightweight day sight) was avalible to all.

              so were definetly goin throught the change atm but why would they use acogs was that like a last resort to get people comfy with crosshairs, i heard something about the acogs being rented until the spectres are issued?

                  Yeah acogs were a short term contract to fulfil the requirement whilst waiting for the Specter sights to be issued. Some units already have them and they're slowly rolling out across the board to replace the ACOG.
                  Susats are being phased out, will be in use for a long time still though with non front line units
