MP5 longer barrel 340mm

hi all

i have just been reading about putting a longer barrel in my mp5 but i would have to be carefull as i would need to put an m4 cylinder in there too or i would loose fps.

is this right?

im wanting to get a 363mm barrel (m4 size) and cut it down to the end of the silencer on the SD, so about 335mm after i cut it, then would i just need a m4 cylinder to keep the power up?

There's no real benefit to putting a longer barrel in an AEG. Although 363 is considered to be one of the 'ideal' barrel lengths, the truth is, it wont make a noticeable difference compared to the stock MP5 barrel (280mm?)

Stock is 229, very short!

I've got a 363 and a M4 cylinder. However I have the MP5 A series, so my 150mm silencer requires no cutting down of the barrel.

Yeah mate so id be getting just over 10cm of barrel over the standard,

I'm not sure what advantage it will gain you. I was told it didn't really make all that much odds by a techie, unlike the length in a real steel.

Mine went on as my pellets were bouncing around in the silencer, so needed some guidance!

So yeah if i did get a m4 size barrel i would need a m4 cylinder too? :-)

i think you would, but as has already been established, it is near on pointless...

if you want more range, the things to consider are barrel diameter (not length) and the type of hop unit/rubber in there....barrel length will make little difference

Well i have a tm hop unit and a ics rubber,
When i rang for a new rubber i was told to quick with that one,

What is a good hop rubber to get,
Can i have an exact one not just mad bull one :-p

You also have to consider the problems that cutting a barrel can cause.

Depending on how you cut it there is potential bending or crushing of the barrel, not making a straight cut across the end and burrs or simmilar intruding into the barrel.

i would just get a decent tb of the mp5 length..........

i have a psg1 barrel in my aug, and it made a difference yes, but is a right pain in the arse

stick with a standard MP5 barrel (length), but get a new hop unit/rubber and maybe a TB.
