Re: we m4 open bolt conversion?
heres a first hand example that i had with a m4 open bolt kit, after installing it on my buddys m4 we took it for a test run, previously the gun had horrendous cool down and couldn't empty a mag full auto now however he can do that, it has improved the reliability and was easy to install though i do reccomend either getting some help or watching a few guides on how to do so hope this helps mate

There is a kit to convert to open bolt?! How much do they retail for (typically) and who makes them?

I've seen them as low as £30 and as high as £60. As far as I am aware RA Tech make them but I know there are a couple of none branded kits as well.
Don't forget if you convert it you need to do your mags as well!

What do you mean, "do your mags"?

Mag feed lips are different on O/B.
And its WE that produces the kit not RA-tech

Afaik all WE releases since the G39C have been based on the open bolt system. The closed bolt system is obselete.

Re: we m4 open bolt conversion?
That is correct . The new hopup is much more effective than earlier closed chamber design

Re: we m4 open bolt conversion?
Steel loading nozzle isn't as good as it sounds , plastic creates far better feeding and less chopped rounds
