It would have to be a lipo unless it was some rather strange looking RIS and a tiny nihm battery.

Is always going to make a lot more sense to look to the stock for battery space.... any reason you are not?

Lipos are smaller and more efficient batteries. I won't go into too much detail, there is a million threads on here about them

Your best option I would say is either a battery sling, PEQ box or some handy customising. I did once consider gutting a RIS mounted torch to accommodate a battery

            would a Lipo fit inside?

also do they use the sameplug thing as NiMH?

You mean in a torch? Can't see why not with right sized lipo/torch. You'd have to gut them to the point they did not work, but unless you playing inside that is not an issue. I reckon with two torches (one "normal" one "red") you could have a crane lipo in there. The one I'm using in my stock is 2600mah 7.4v for example.

Some RIS handguards could take an 800mah LiPo battery, but not all. You'd have to physically try it before being 100% sure.

Re: M4 RIS whihc fits battery inside?

If you do a search for Turnigy Airsoft Nano Lipo batteries you will find ones that ought to fit in any gun.

New range of airsoft specific batteries with different dimensions than the usual ones RC users require.

For example you can now get stick type that fit in the top cover of an AK with decent discharge rates rather than what has gone before. Which was poor to be honest. All the good stuff was not friendly towards stocktubes or tight spaces.

Don't ask me where to get them. I am not permitted to say. Just do a google search.

Bog standard KAC style RIS found on most M4s will fit a mini battery in the lower half no problem. You can even make a double mini fit, one in the top and one in the bottom, if you remove the gas tube. Best bet though is a simple PEQ battery box with the wires hidden inside the RIS, much tidier.

CASV will definitely fit a mini battery. I used to have one

the aps ris (kac style) is larger than standard and can fit mini or nun-chuck batts
